The chart shows the average numbers of hours per day spent on household tasks by both males and females of different age groups in the UK during the period 2000-2001.[because the time period is sometime in the past, we mostly use past tense]
Generally, the length of time both sexes spent on household tasks increased as they got / grew older. It also indicates that women spent more time on household tasks in each age group. [This is a good description of the general trend in the chart!]
The youngest age group of both sexes spend spent under one hour on household tasks. The amount of time increasesd about an hour in later age groups. [be careful with the expression ‘about an hour,” because for females in the age group 25-44, clearly the increase was more than one hour]
In the age group of 25-44, Wwomen spent about twice as much time on household tasks as men did, by the age of 25-44. Then it remained steadily in later age groups, while the amount of time men spent on household task increasesd.
