IELTS-Writing task 2 (page 31)

Nowadays, the air pollution is getting worse. It is very difficult for us to get good guality air in public areas. One of many pollutants is the cigarette smoke. So, I state that smoking should be banned in all public places.

Firstly, some researches prove that inhaling cigarette endangers people’s health. The smoke does not only cause some bad effects to the smokers’ health but also to the nonsmokers’. The researchers discover that the effect of inhaling cigarette smoke is even worse to the nonsmokers. The smoke can cause many health’s problem such as cancer, inflammation of the lungs, etc. It is also dangerous for pregnancies.

Secondly, we need legal standards to make healthier environment. By forbidding smoking in public areas, we can get fresh air to breathe. It is the government’s authority to ban people smoking in public places. In Jakarta, this kind of regulation has been made. People are not allowed to smoke in public areas, such as offices, shopping centres, and parks. Anyone who disobeys this rule should be punished to pay fine.

In addition, the individual awareness is also needed to get healthy environment. The purpose of banning people smoking in public areas can be seen by obeying the rules. The smokers should be aware that other people deserve fresh air to breathe. Without people’s awareness, the goal of the regulation cannot be achieved.

In conclusion, I would maintain that smoking should be banned in public areas, because of its danger for human’s health. In order to have better environment, the government role is needed to produce legal standards. Besides that, we also need people’s participation to be aware about this, so that we will have healthier environment to live.

WHY SMOKING BAN SHOULD BE IMPLEMENTED

Nowadays, the air pollution is getting worse. It is very difficult for us to get good quality air in public areas. One of many pollutants is the cigarette smoke. So, I believe/argue that smoking should be banned in all public places for some reasons.

Firstly, some research prove that inhaling cigarette endangers people’s health. The smoke not only causes some bad effects on the smokers’ health but also on the nonsmokers’ health. The researchers discover that the effect of inhaling cigarette smoke is even worse to the nonsmokers. The smoke can cause many health problem such as cancer, inflammation of the lungs, and the like. It is also dangerous for pregnancies.

Secondly, by forbidding smoking in public areas, we can get fresh air to breathe. For this to happen, we need legal standards to promote healthier environment.. It is the government’s authority to ban people from smoking in public places. In Jakarta, this kind of regulation has been made. People are not allowed to smoke in public areas, such as offices, shopping centers, and parks. Anyone who disobeys this rule is fined.

In addition, the ban would somehow make smokers aware of others’ well-being. If they say that they care about others, they would obey the rules. Without this kind of awareness, the goal of the regulation cannot be achieved.

In conclusion, I would maintain that smoking should be prohibited in public areas, because of its danger for human’s health, because of the clean air that such ban will promote, and because of the awareness that it evokes
